345kV Structure Replacement

Background

The Cooperative Client initiated a multiyear program to replace more than 450 aging structures on a 345 kV transmission line. In addition to replacement, the Client sought to bring all structures up to current standards. Allgeier Martin developed annual structure replacement designs for each year of the ten-year plan.

During the first eight years, structure replacements were prioritized based on condition, requiring individual engineering solutions to meet updated design criteria while also integrating with adjacent legacy structures. The final two years focused on replacing the remaining structures in sequence, continuing the need for coordination with both new and existing arrangements.
