PWSD #3 Water System Expansion

Jasper County, MO

PWSD #3 Water System Expansion

Background

A nearly 300 percent expansion of the Jasper #3 Water District boundary necessitated water system upgrades. This expansion required a deep study of the current system. It also required study of its expected 20-year usage.

PWSD #3 Water System Expansion

Activity

A preliminary engineering report (PER) addressed upgrades in their water supply, storage, and distribution system. The PER investigated the existing water system facilities and current usage. The team analyzed past population data. They used it to project water usage for the expanded boundary 20 years into the future. This information helped in preparing a hydraulic model of the existing system. The model included approximately 42 miles of water line. Three system improvement alternatives and cost estimates were prepared for the District. We evaluated the options. We made a final recommendation based on an economic (present worth cost analysis) and a non-economic (environmental) evaluation. The chosen option will keep supplying water to current customers. It will also serve nearly 580 new customers.

Allgeier Martin was hired to design the improvements recommended in the report. AMA designed all four phases.
