Distribution System Study

Southwest Missouri

Distribution System Study

Background

A utility in Southwest Missouri partnered with Allgeier Martin to assess the resilience and reliability of its electric distribution system. The AMA team conducted a detailed distribution system study to guide capital improvements over the next 10 years. An electronic model was developed in MilSoft WindMil to analyze current system performance and predict how forecasted load growth would impact operations. Forecast loading levels were derived from load forecast and capacity studies, supplemented by historic and current billing data. Estimated project costs were based on the utility’s construction history over the past five years. The resulting plan identified system upgrades, substation improvements, and protection changes needed to maintain safe and reliable service.
