Cowgill, Walnut, & Mitchell Street Improvements

Several streets in Chillicothe, MO were in disrepair and needed improving. The City needed an engineer to assess roadway conditions for options to repair or rebuild streets. In cooperation with the City, AMA established a plan and budget for repairs. Once the plan was in place, the City needed engineering design for the recommended repairs and rebuilds.

Chillicothe hired AMA to perform the street assessments and make a plan and budget recommendation. As part of the plan, Cowgill and Walnut Streets required complete reconstruction. Both streets had significant pavement deterioration, rutting, and poor drainage qualities. AMA engineers produced design plans and specifications to improve 2,504 linear feet of roadway. AMA also provided construction inspection. The open ditches were filled and replaced with curb and gutter. This improved drainage and aesthetic qualities of the area along Cowgill Street.

The City budgeted for the complete removal and replacement of a section of Mitchell Street. The improvements included widening, installation of curb and gutter, stormwater improvements, and concrete paving. The vertical alignment immediately south of the railroad tracks was also improved. A new reinforced concrete box culvert replaced an old pipe culvert at the creek crossing to reduce flooding issues.
