County Road 110 Realignment & Bridge Replacement
Jasper County, MO

Background
Jasper County required the replacement of a deficient one-lane bridge on a curved roadway. The bridge and road alignment were not safe to cross.

Activity
Allgeier Martin was selected to design, plan, and provide construction management for the roadway realignment and bridge replacement. In cooperation with the contractor, AMA redesigned for the intermediate bent during construction. Design phase foresight allowed AMA engineers to anticipate the probability of deeper footings. We included in the bid schedule quantities for excavation, rock excavation, and foundation test holes. Each of the additional quantities listed were later deducted from the projects. Even with the redesigned structure complexity, the project was completed within 0.1 percent of the original bid estimate.
Technical Design & Features
- Improved bridge hydraulics to pass a 25-year storm event
- Original structure was designed at a 2-year storm event
