Joplin, MO

4th & School Storm Drainage Improvements Phase I & II

Background

The City was experiencing drainage issues at an intersection in front of the new Joe Becker Stadium. In addition, limited sidewalks in the area provided access from the parking areas to the stadium.

4th & School Storm Drainage Improvements Phase I & II

Activity

The project area included 5th Street to the intersection at 2nd Street and Comingo Avenue. To improve drainage and increase safety, roadway improvements included storm sewers, curb and gutter, sidewalks, curb ramps, concrete paving, and asphalt paving. The project involved a railroad crossing and several parallel street crossings. The design approach reduced cost by utilizing as much capacity from the existing storm sewer as possible. In addition, Allgeier Martin provided construction phase services for the project.
