345-161-69kV Substation Relay & Control

Background

An electric cooperative client required engineering services to upgrade their 161/69 kV substation and add a new 345/161 kV 400 MVA transformer. The existing 161/69 kV control building was overcrowded, and the relays controlling the 161 kV yard were outdated. Allgeier Martin developed specifications for the new transformer and designed updated relay equipment and panel layouts. The team prepared construction and contract documents and supported the procurement process, including bid review and contractor recommendations.

AMA coordinated specifications for breakers, switches, and instrument transformers across the 345 kV, 161 kV, and 69 kV systems. Vendor drawings were reviewed to ensure design compliance, all within budget and schedule constraints.
