Substation Design Engineer
This position is for those seeking a career in the design of electric utility substations. Compensation is highly competitive commensurate with experience.
The candidate must work closely with clients, requiring strong communication skills. He or she must also be able to develop contract documents for construction, as well as material and equipment contracts. Some travel to and from clients, primarily within our 4-state area, as well as the project sites for inspections, will be required from time to time.
Responsibilities
- Physical and substation technical and structural design of electric utility substations
- Physical layout
- Equipment sizing evaluations
- Civil loading and foundation analysis
- Site grading layout and design
- Major equipment and switch specification
- Manufacturer drawing approval
- Development of material lists
- Project administration
- Project coordination
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- PE License in Missouri, or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment
Desired Skills
- Ability to work with other engineers and technicians to develop a set of drawings and specifications for the construction of substation facilities
- EHV design or Autodesk Inventor experience
