Power Line Staker
We are seeking a Power Line Staker to join our Utility Services team. This position is primarily field-based and involves collecting field data, staking proposed line routes, and supporting projects that help build and improve electric utility infrastructure.
This is primarily a field-based position requiring frequent travel, including overnight stays, and work in varying weather and terrain conditions. Typically, crews are out of the office weekly for 3-5 days at a time and have weekends off. Less frequently, travel could be up to 10 days at a time, with 4 days off afterward. Travel expenses and a per diem for meals is paid for by the company.
Responsibilities
- Design electric distribution and utility line projects in the field
- Collect and manage project data using GPS equipment, iPads,and specialized software
- Learn line design criteria and apply this knowledge todesign projects in the field.
- Communicate with engineers, utility personnel, project teammembers, and property owners
- Download and maintain field data and project information
- Respond to questions regarding completed staking projectsand field designs
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and with our team aftertraining
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, and mobile technology
- Ability to produce clear, legible fieldnotes and basic sketches
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrainconditions
- Ability to walk long distances and carry field equipment asneeded
Desired Skills
- Experience in electric utility staking, surveying, construction, engineering, or related fields
- Familiarity with GPS equipment
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to learn client staking software to enter design data into their work order systems
