Construction Site Representative
This position is for those seeking a career monitoring construction of facilities connected to the electrical power grid. Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, tact and judgement are essential skills integral to this position.
Responsibilities
- Review and monitor construction with respect to conformity with the plans, specifications, special drawings and approved materials lists.
- Maintain daily construction documentation, records and files, prepare progress reports and other records to keep AMA office personnel informed as to activities or unusual conditions on the project.
- Inform, advise or respond to clients, contractors or AMA professionals concerning technical issues and problems associated with the project.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to read, understand and interpret drawings (blueprints) and written specifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, standards, methods and practices.
- Get along with people, communicate well and resolve interpersonal issues with tact and judgement.
- Willing to travel and be away from home over the course of a construction project, which typically lasts for 2-4 months, but can be longer. Depending on contractor’s work schedule, the position is typically home every or every other weekend.
- Proficient with computer and smart phone technology to communicate and interface with the office. Basic understanding of the use of PDF, Excel and Word files as well as the use of email.
- Become knowledgeable of industry related codes and standards.
- Able to drive and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Able to stand, walk, climb, kneel, lift fifty (50) pounds, and work for eight (8) hours or more each day at construction sites, many of which will be undeveloped with a wide range of terrain and obstacles. Able to withstand exposure to the elements and extremes in temperature.
- Safety conscious and aware as work is performed on active construction sites where exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks and otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment exist.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six (6) to eight (8) years construction experience preferred.
