History

Allgeier, Martin and Associates was founded in 1953 at Lamar, Missouri, effectively commencing operations on January 1, 1954. Kent W. Martin and Elmer M. Allgeier were the founding partners with Emmett G. Green, Vernon R. Lawson and Charlie C. Davidson as associates. One other engineer, two draftsmen and a secretary completed the original staff.

The company moved from Lamar, Missouri to 1204 Main, Joplin, Missouri during the spring of 1954. Specializing in electrical, civil and sanitary engineering, and architectural services, the success of the firm led to continued growth throughout the region.

This growth necessitated the development of new headquarters at our present location, 2820 S. Range Line Rd., Joplin, Missouri, with the first building completed and occupied by the firm in 1961. Five building additions have been made to the campus since that date.

The firm was incorporated in 1978 at which time, Elmer M. Allgeier, Kent W. Martin, Vernon R. Lawson, Emmett G. Green and Charlie C. Davidson were elected as Directors of the new corporation. At that time, Mr. Allgeier sold his shares to the other stockholders and retired from the company.

In 2006 Allgeier Martin acquired Wilson Hydro, LLC of Rolla, Missouri. This acquisition strengthened our qualifications in the fields of hydraulics, hydrology and stormwater management.

Allgeier, Martin and Associates, Inc. is now a 100% employee owned company through the development of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) which was established in 1992. The firm continues to grow and maintains its excellence in electrical and civil engineering, and surveying. Allgeier Martin provides services to a wide variety of clients throughout the Midwest including Rural Electric Cooperatives, private and public utilities, government agencies, and commercial, industrial and institutional companies.
